

Matt was born July 31, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Andrew and Selma Gilmour. Matt served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He earned his BA from Tulsa University and an MT from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He taught high school math in Bowring, Oklahoma.
In 1961 he married Sharon Gaddis. They went to Coldwater, Kansas for two years. They moved to Springfield where he taught at Springfield High and then went to Southeast when it opened.
In 1995, he became a red coat at Memorial Hospital: also joined the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County at that time and became the commander from 2002 until 2010. Matt was a life member of the VFW post 755.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, two children, Michael (Julie) and daughter Anna of McHenry, IL and a daughter, Susan Seaman of Venice, Florida. She has four children giving us three great grandchildren. Matt was preceded in death by his sister Helen Jane Van Cleve (husband Russell) and his brother Reverend Geroge Gilmour (wife Sarah). He has several nephews and one niece surviving.
Private funeral services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
