Matthew "Mat" Wallace Hirstein

Matthew “Mat” Wallace Hirstein, 30, of San Antonio, TX died Thursday, July 19, 2007, as the result of a work accident. He was born Feb. 9, 1977, in Springfield, the son of Todd and Ann Pearson Hirstein. He married Margie Franco in 2004. He attended Auburn schools and was a graduate of Springfield High School. Mat was a member of the Douglas Street United Methodist Church, loved fishing and the outdoors, and was a wonderful dad. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Margie of San Antonio; son, Brennan at home; mother, Ann Hart of Auburn; father, Todd Hirstein of Springfield; stepmother, Mary Anne Hirstein; three sisters, Megan Hirstein of Springfield, Carie Hart of Auburn and Barb (Dave) Mittel of Arlington Heights; two brothers, Drew Hart of Carbondale and Steve Brumleve of Springfield; grandparents, Kathleen Pearson of Rockford and Wally and Edna Hirstein of Springfield; one nephew, Quincy; two nieces, Claire and Sydney; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Life Celebration will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Harre officiating. Memorials contributions may be made to: The Brennan G.
