

Maude D. Ellis, 84, of Dawson, died at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Maude was born July 18, 1929 in Springfield, the daughter of Peter James and Jesse Shaw Rafferty. She married Waldon B. Ellis, Sr. in December of 1947 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on May 18, 1998. Maude graduated from Feitshans High School and worked for Kmart until her retirement. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, sewing, and woodworking. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Ann Ellis; three grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou. She is survived by her son, Waldon Ellis, Jr. of Jerseyville; six daughters, Glenna Wainwright of Dawson, Debbie (husband, Dan) Lescarbeau of Avon, OH, Bonnie (husband, Mark) Ward of Washington, IN, Penny (husband, Patrick) Batts of Olympia, WA, Sherri (husband, Mike) Zara of Riverton, and Pam (husband, Joe) Ward of Springfield; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Catherine, Margurete, and Peter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; best friend, Macie; and three beloved dogs. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with the Rev.
