

Maxine was born on June 23, 1935 in Pana, IL, the daughter of George and Mildred Schultze Rau. She married Jesse McCoy in 1957; he preceded her in death in 1986.
Maxine had one sister, Georgia Johnson, who was always involved in her life and additionally roomed with Maxine in her final years. She also had a daughter, Beth Ann, who passed away in 1965. Maxine is survived by a niece, Jane (Chuck) Locker of Springfield; nephew, Bill (Andrea) Johnson of Springfield; great-nephews and great-niece, Adam (Becky) Locker, Jesse Johnson, and Alexa (Cody) Johnson Boals; and special friends, Ed (Paula) Gibson and their children, Jonathon Gibson and Kari Beth Thoennes.
Maxine grew up on a farm in rural Pana, near Rosamond, IL. She reminisced frequently about riding horses and the everyday adventures on a farm. After graduating from high school, Maxine attended Brown’s Business School in Springfield, IL. She owned and operated a children’s clothing store in Chatham, IL. Maxine also worked at the Chatham Clarion and spent many years at the Chatham Area Public Library. She was a friendly, caring librarian that was especially fond of children. Maxine was always involved with some activity whether it be home extension, knitting, or church activities. She was also a member of the Ansarettes. Maxine was loved by all that knew her, and she would always go out of her way to help others. She was a member of the Chatham Presbyterian Church. She rarely missed a Sunday service and volunteered for many activities.
Private family ceremonies will be held.
