Michael D. Davis

Mike was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 27, 1954, to Merrill and Bernice Davis. Mike married Diana Widicus on June 27, 1981, in Fulton, Missouri. Together, they moved to Springfield, Illinois.

Mike was a man of many hats, having careers in all areas of life. He had degrees in electrical engineering, finance, and computer science, and worked as a contractor and in real estate. He finally found his calling in life as an educator with District 186 in Springfield, teaching math and computer science.

Mike’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially his five grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Dadu.” He enjoyed collecting old radios, learning and exploring different beers with his “Beer Crew,” Cardinals baseball, traveling, and being with the people he loved.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Diana Widicus; children, Andy (Destiny) Davis, Megan (Korhy) Flanary, Jane (Emily) Briguglio, and Nathan (Jason) Davis; grandchildren, Oliver, Nancy, Theodore, Lincoln, and Mikey; siblings, Allan, Marilyn, and Janet; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Nelsen officiating.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
