Michael Dorchinecz, Jr.

Michael Dorchinecz, Jr., age 81, of Springfield passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Home. Mike was born on March 28, 1921 in Benton, IL, the son of Michael and Anna Stanewich Dorchinecz. He married Aggie Song; she preceded him in death. Mr. Dorchinecz attended schools in Taylorville, IL and joined the U.S. Navy, retiring on September 8, 1976 after 20 years. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed warm climates and playing golf while living in Hawaii and California the last 30 years. Mike was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha J. Aden. He is survived by one brother: Ernie (wife, Janet) Dorchinecz of Taylorville, one sister: Sophie (husband, Paul) Rudow of Taylorville, many nieces and nephews: Mike Aden of Springfield, Jean Aden of Springfield, Carol (husband, Phil) Clark of Jacksonville, FL, Marylee (husband, Dave) Babbs of Taylorville, Pam (husband, Jim) McGowan of Rochester and Karen (husband, Bob) Moore of Hunstville, AL, Dorinda (husband, Ron) Kress of Cedar Park, TX, Kristi (husband, Jeff) Peck of Atlanta, GA, Steve (wife, Cindy) Dorchinecz of Taylorville, and Brad (wife, Eileen) Dorchinecz of Chicago, Matthew Dorchinecz of Atlanta, GA, John and Allen Crist of Taylorville and Jimmy Crist of Peoria, many great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Home Chapel on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. John Spreen officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Home, 3306 S. 6th St. Rd. Springfield, IL 62703.
