Michael H. Gilbert

Michael H. Gilbert, 61, of Springfield, passed away at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, April 1, 2001 at his home. Michael H. Gilbert was born October 19, 1939 the son of Harry Nealon and Maude Crosson Gilbert in Columbus, Ohio. He married Rosemary Delara on July 31, 1971 at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, IL. He was a 1957 graduate of Hirsch High School. He worked for the State of Illinois for 26 1/2 years, and retired on July 31, 2000. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and American Legion Post 32. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Rosemary Gilbert of Springfield, two sons: Jim Gilbert of Ontario, CA, Jared Gilbert of Springfield; mother-in-law: Josephine Delara of West Chicago, IL; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Al & Diane Delara of Kansas City, KS, Mike & Maria Stanko of Seneca, IL, Charlie & Gloria Christensen of Salt Lake City, UT and Rudy Delara of West Chicago, IL and several nieces,nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2001 with a Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Wright V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to National Cancer Research Institute 681 5th Ave. New York City, NY and will be directed to the Illinois Fund. The family of Michael H.
