

Michael R. Vincent, 67, of Springfield (formerly of Virden), passed away at 9:52 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family. Michael was born October 8, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Richard and Marceline Heinisch Vincent. He married Barbara Ochman on November 11, 1978 in Springfield. Michael graduated from Virden High School in 1967. He received his bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1972. Michael retired from the Secretary of State as an Administrator in the Department of Business Services in June 2004 after 33 years of service. He also owned Vincents Taxidermy for 38 years and Vincents Archery for 25 years. He was a life member of Lefthanders Gun Club in Loami. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taxidermy, wood working, U.S. history, playing guitar, and writing music. He was proud of and loved spending time with his family and his champion dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marceline Vincent; and his dogs, Pepper and Genevieve. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Vincent of Springfield; two daughters, Erin Vincent and Kathryn Vincent, both of Springfield; brother, Curt Vincent of Virden; sister, Sheryll Holloway of Rockwall, TX; uncle, Delbert (Phyllis) Vincent of Springfield; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved dogs, Isabella, Hattie Mae, and Ava Grace. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Virden Cemetery.
