
Mignon L. Klang of Springfield died on Friday, August 28, 2009. Mrs. Klang was the daughter of Jesse Allen Cook and Doris Pilcher Cook. She married Alfred G. Klang. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Klang was a community volunteer, previously serving on the Board of the Senior Center. She was a member of the Samaritans at St. John's Hospital, volunteering in the S.H.I.P. program sponsored by the Department of Insurance, State of Illinois. She served on the Advisory Board for Third Age Living and was a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Old State Capitol Foundation, serving as the first Membership Chairman and later as Secretary. She was a member of King's Daughters, Willing Circle. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, and formerly a member of the Society of Mary at St. Luke's. Mrs. Klang retired from the Department of Mental Health, State of Illinois, as Chief of the Review, Hearings and Appeals Branch, Division of Legal Services. Mrs. Klang is survived by two daughters, Denise L. Beiermann (spouse Dennis) and Deborah Klang Smith (spouse Henry Dale, Jr.); four grandchildren, Jesse Allen Beiermann, Chandler Klang Smith, Brett Alfred Beiermann and Eugene Andrew Beiermann; and one great grandchild, Olivia Marie Green-Beiermann. The family will receive visitors at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 South 2nd Street, Springfield beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 5. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., the Ven. Shawn W. Denney officiating. Graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
