

Mike Tavine, 76, of Springfield, died at 4:21 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. Mike was born April 10, 1927 in Novinger, Missouri the son of Michael and Leah Millard Tavine. He married Genevieve Keck; she preceded him in death April 15, 1987. Mr. Tavine was employed for over 30 years by Amrhein Bakery and later for the Secretary of State for 15 years; retiring in 1997. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #364, Teamster’s Local 916 and a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Seth in 1999.. He is survived by three sons: Mike (wife, Terry) Tavine of West Chicago, Pat Tavine and Dan (wife, Bonnie) Tavine both of Springfield; five grandchildren: Jennifer Tavine, Sarah Leemans, Leah Tavine, Jill Tavine, Joe Tavine and one great grandson: Michael Raymond Leemans. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Robert Becker principal celebrant and Reverend H. Thomas McDermott C.S.C. con-celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family of Mike Tavine is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
