Mildred ''Pat'' Estelle Cumming

Mildred "Pat" Estelle Cumming, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. John's Hospital. Pat was born March 12, 1921 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Verena M. Frost Hovel. She married Arthur W. Cumming on May 17, 1942 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1990. Pat was educated in Chicago. She opened A. Cumming's and Sons Carpet with her husband and two sons in 1969, working there until present day. Pat was an avid Cub's fan and would have loved to see them win a pennant. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. Also preceding Pat in death are her parents. She is survived by her children, Dennis (wife, Brenda) Cumming of Springfield, Patricia (husband, John) Swickard of Trophy Club, TX, Bruce (wife, Mary) Cumming of Springfield; step-children, Bonnie Kay of Chicago and Mary Jane Greggor of North Carolina; grandchildren, Susan McGee, Sherri Cumming, Brett Cumming, Todd Swickard, Dawn Cumming, Jeff Cumming, Sean Mahoney, Shannon Mahoney, Anne Cumming, Michael Kay, Lorea Civock, and Cari Greggor; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
