

Monica Lynn Rubio, 38, of Chatham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Monica was born January 7, 1976 in Chatham, the daughter of Clyde and Marcia Sullivan Miller. She married Andrew T. Rubio on October 25, 2008 in Springfield. Monica was a member of Church of the Little Flower while growing up. She was a graduate of Southeast High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She enjoyed traveling to Disney World, reading and cooking, especially her special homemade spaghetti sauce. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and also enjoyed listening to the music of New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, and John Mayer. She was proud of her position as Executive Director with Kid's Castle (formerly Pleasant Run Daycare) and loved all the children. Monica always wanted a little brown haired, brown eyed baby, and was blessed with her daughter Kara in November of 2009. Her most treasured moments were spent with her husband, Andy and her daughter, Kara. Monica was known for being a kind, sweet, patient, and very generous person. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Richard Sullivan and Urias Miller; her grandmother, Della Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Andrew T. Rubio of Chatham; their daughter, Kara Rubio of Chatham; her parents, Clyde and Marcia Miller of Springfield; one sister, Carrie (husband, Brian) Burge of Taylorville; four nieces and one nephew, Taylor, Alexis, Halle, and Lucas Burge, and Olivia Norman; parents- in- law, Martin and JoAnn Rubio, sisters- in- law, Sarah Rubio and Miranda (companion, Tom Norman) Rubio, all of Savanna, IL; her beloved pet, Milo; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Church of the Little Flower, 900 Stevenson Dr., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Church of the Little Flower, 900 Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
