
Monty Lee Robertson, 74, of Loami, died at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home in Loami. Monty, son of Charles Estel and Wilma Olive Mayfield Robertson, was born at 11:45 p.m. on January 20, 1940 at St. Mary's Hospital in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois and died at his home in Loami, IL. Monty graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1958 and earned his Associate's degree in Graphic Design & Technology at John Wood Community College in Quincy. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 6, 1958 and completed his Basic Training at D-3-2, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and completed his A.I.T. at Fort Gordon, Georgia before shipping out to Germany in March of 1959. After several overseas tours and a couple of breaks in service, he was called back to active duty in 1984 with duty station at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois as the Computer Repairman for the 258 QM SUP CO DAS3 where he served for the next 7 years and 11 months and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant, retiring from the Army at Fort Leonard Wood on November 6, 1992 after 23 years of Honorable active duty service. He served two tours in Germany (1959-1961 and 1964-1965), one tour in Korea (1966-1967), a tour of Okinawa and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War (1970-1971). He was a life member of VFW Post 1032 in Springfield, Illinois and a former member of the American Legion Post 37 in Quincy, Illinois. He was also a former member of the Quincy Trojan Drum and Bugle Corp. Monty enjoyed photography, computers, and genealogy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Poksan Kim Robertson; his parents; three sisters, Sandra Robertson White, Janet Robertson Fielding, and Joan Robertson Williams (twins); and one brother, Charles "Butch" E. Robertson, Jr. He is survived by his children, Christopher Robertson and Jaymie Lee Robertson, both of Loami, and Kimberly (husband, Jim) Hart of Edinburg, IL; four grandchildren, Keith Lamont Robertson, (VA-CO), Omi Winona Hart, Kele Dean Hart, and Jayke Lee Sabo Robertson; one great-grandson; siblings, Nancy Sue Breurer, Pauline "Polly" Leckbee, and Raymond Robertson, two half-brothers, James and William McGraw, all of Quincy, Sally Parkhill of CO, and Mary Masterson of AZ; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
