Muriel Eileen Carr, 84, of Springfield, died at 1:48 a.m. Thursday August 30th, 2001 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. She was born December 21st, 2001 in Barnesville, Georgia, the daughter of Robert and Anne Crosby Surles. Mrs. Carr was a graduate of Springfield High School. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. She had been a kindergarten teacher at St. Aloysius Grade School and later retired from the Sangamon County Treasurer's office. Surviving is her daugher- Donna (husband- Bill) Rechner of Springfield; and two granddaughters- Robin Webster and Cynde McCluskey- both of Springfield. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 4th, 2001 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 5th, 2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Rev. Robert Becker celebrant.
