Nancy L. Wallner

Nancy was born on August 22, 1948, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Orin Sylvester and Catherine Rhodes Kelly. She married Charles E. Wallner on March 21, 1970, in Leroy, IL.

Nancy was a graduate of Leroy High School and attended Illinois State University. She and her husband worked for Professional Consulting Services of IL. Nancy enjoyed being around the water and the beach. They were members of Island Bay Yacht Club. She loved nature, her pets, butterflies, and traveling to Florida. But her true passion was sailing. Every Sunday morning, no matter the weather, you would find Nancy at Island Bay Yacht Club sailing through white caps and sunshine. She sailed in national regattas and won awards for her sailing accomplishments. Nancy was also an avid Cubs fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Marguerite Foster.

She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Wallner of Springfield; four children, Christopher (wife, Kimberly) Wallner of Mettawa, IL, Trevor (wife, Amy) Wallner of Springfield, Crystal (husband, Derek) Howard of Raleigh, NC, and Amanda File of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Logan, Lucy, and Elle Wallner, Harper, Maggie, and William Howard; one brother, Orin Kelly of Clinton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Springfield First United Methodist, 2941 South Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Justin Snider officiating.

Private Family burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
