Nico Robert Nelson

Nico Robert Nelson of Rockford, IL, entered eternal rest at 9:47 p.m. on October 3, 2026, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. All he knew was love and was surrounded by family. Nico was held only for a moment, loved for a lifetime, and is now a beautiful guardian angel watching from above.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, James Power, Bonnie (Archie) Thomas, Larry List and infant maternal great-uncle, Robert Power, whom which his middle name was chosen after.

Nico is survived by his parents, Dale and Jaide Nelson of Rockford, IL; siblings, Kaleb, Natalie, Kendyl, Lucas, and Holly; maternal grandparents, Sheila (Chad) Harvey of Easton, IL and David (Debby) List of Seymour, TN; paternal grandparents, Bill and Ann Parsons of Myrtle Beach, SC; maternal great-grandparents, Gisa Power of Mason City, IL and Steve and Barb Harvey of Easton, IL; aunts and uncles, Ashley (Nathan) Moehring of San Jose, IL, Megan (Blake) Buchholz of Lincoln, IL, Jenna List of Mason City, IL and Nathan (Jennifer) Fey of Rockford, IL; several cousins; and beloved fur siblings, Ivy and Zippy.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.

The family would also like to extend its sincere gratitude to the St. John’s Birth Center for the wonderful care they provided to their precious Nico during his stay and the 5 days of wonderful memories they were able to create with their beautiful Nico.
