She was born on October 11, 1928, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Amon and Lorena (Cooper) Curtis. Nora married John “Jack” McCurley, Sr. on March 20, 1948, in Springfield. He preceded her in death.
Nora attended Feitshans High School. She then went on to work at Horace Mann Insurance for several years. Nora was a member of Cherry Hills Church and Sangamo Surf Club in Springfield and enjoyed meeting up with friends. She especially loved making memories with her sons and grandsons.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, John McCurley, Jr; and brothers, Edgar, Thomas, and Alvin Curtis.
Nora is survived by her son, Charles (Debra) McCurley of Kingsville, MO; grandchildren, Andrew Marshall, Joseph (Stacy Moretti) McCurley and Michael (Shayla) McCurley; great-grandchildren, Devin, Lily, and Emma Marshall, and Gage (Taylor) McCurley; one great-great-granddaughter, Haven McCurley; and sister, Genevieve Bryant.
Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 7, 2026, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Scott Nichols officiating.
