Norma Jean Bretz

Norma Jean Bretz, 69, of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 2:50 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 21, 1931 in Curran, IL the daughter of Richard and Alberta Hurshman Bayly. She married Robert H. Bretz on April 18, 1953 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and had also attended St. James Catholic Church in Decatur, IL for many years prior. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Bretz was preceded in death by her father: Richard Bayly. She is survived by her husband: Robert H. Bretz of Springfield; three sons: Stephen R. Bretz of Columbia, South Carolina, Michael E. (wife, Kimberly) Bretz of Decatur, IL, Phillip J. (wife, Carla) Bretz of Columbia, South Carolina; four daughters: Mary A. (husband, Michael) Evans of Decatur, IL, Julie M. (husband, Bruce) Fulton of Ballwin, MO, Elizabeth A. (husband, Jeff) Almond of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jean M. (husband, Brian) Shadday of Columbia, South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; her mother: Alberta McClure of East Peoria, IL; a brother: Lawrence R. (wife, Marie) Bayly of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters: Dorothy (husband, Edwin) Short of Blue Island, IL, Kara B. (husband, John) Bilyeu of Leesburg, FL, and Kathryn (husband, James) Turner of East Peoria, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2001 with a Wake Service at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 17, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Very Revs. Kenneth Steffen and John Renken celebrants.
