Norma Jean Edwards, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her residence. Norma was born April 22, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Jack and Rose Mason Downs. She married Donald Edwards on December 30, 1949 in St. Louis, MO; he preceded her in death in 2012. Norma taught Sunday school at Douglas Avenue United Methodist and previously served as head of the Craft Bazaar for the Animal Protective League. She enjoyed baking, cooking, attending church, sewing, quilting, and collecting antiques. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Mark Edwards of Urbana; and her daughter, Trudy Edwards of Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
