Norma Jeanne Fairweather

Norma Jeanne Fairweather, of New Berlin, died at 2:05 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Norma was born March 1, 1924 in New Berlin, the daughter of Edward and Stella Hanrahan Stapleton. She married Delbert Fairweather on October 21, 1950 at St. Mary's Church in New Berlin; he preceded her in death on October 3, 2009. Norma was a graduate of New Berlin High School and Browns Business College. She worked for the State of Illinois and then for Stapleton Ford Sales. Norma was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Women's Club, and pinochle club. She enjoyed her family, was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed playing pinochle, and loved children. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Patrick and Bill Stapleton; and one sister, Stella Pistorius. Norma is survived by four daughters, Stella (husband, David) Peecher of New Berlin, Betty (husband, Gene) Bennett of Springfield, Jan (husband, Ron) Thomas, and Cheryl (husband, Andy) Klein, both of New Berlin; fifteen grandchildren, Cory (wife, Amy) Bennett, Christy Bennett, Michelle (husband, Matthew) Burger, Sean (wife, Whitney) Peecher, Ashley, Scott, Julianne, Amy, Kevin, Lyndsey, and Lexie Thomas, Nicholas, Natalie, Brianna and Olivia Klein; six great-grandchildren, Madigan, Marlow, Matthis, and Maevyn Burger, Fiona and Nathan Bennett; two brothers, Thomas (wife, Pat) Stapleton and Charles (wife, Donna) Stapleton, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 304 E. Birch St., New Berlin, with Rev. Kevin Laughery celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
