

Norman Julius Kuklinski, 67, of Springfield, died at 9:58 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Norman was born October 14, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Julius and Eleanor (Wetzig) Kuklinski. Norman is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point achieving the rank of Colonel in the United States Army, retiring in 1982. He continued his education with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters Degree in Business from Drury College. Norman was employed at Colgate University as the Director of the Physical Plant retiring in 2004 after seventeen years of service. For the past two years, he was employed as an adjunct Math Professor at Lincoln Land Community College. Norman was a very intelligent, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed watching college football, teaching, playing the guitar and accordion and working out. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Donald Kuklinski. He is survived by five children: Karen (husband, J.R.) Valedez of VA, Anthony (wife, Tonya) Kuklinski of KY, Alyce Kuklinski (husband, Richard Dinjian) of MA, Beth Kuklinski of NC, and Adam Kuklinski of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren: Whitney, Madison, Ashley, Taylor, Adam, Eliza, and Jon; sister, Sharon (husband, Charles) Schenk of FL; one niece, Diane Schenk (husband, John Prette); one great nephew, Joey Prette; and his fiancé, Mary Young of IL. The family welcomes friends to visit friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2006 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
