Orville D. Cottrill, Jr.

Orville D. Cottrill, Jr., 68, of Springfield, died at 5:20 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at St. John’s Hospice. Orville was born on January 5, 1937 in Big Rapids, MI the son of Orville L. Cottrill, Sr. and Marjorie Youngs Cottrill. He married Harlene Laverne Lee on April 2, 1955 in Stanwood, MI; she preceded him in death in September 1998. Mr. Cottrill was employed as a Superintendent by Campbell White and Cannon Textron Automaker; retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service. He is survived by son: William Michael Cottrill of Springfield; daughters: Kim Cottrill of Springfield, and Pamela Carlson of Stoney Lake MI; mother: Marjorie Danes of Hart, MI; grandchildren: Kevin Richardson II and Estee Richardson; sister: Betty (husband, Ed) Wolvens of Rockford, MI; half sisters: Susan Baxter of Shelby, MI, Francis Eitniear of Shelby, MI, and Valerie Campbell of Shelby, MI; brothers: Chuck (wife, Shirley) Cottrill of Three Rivers, MI, and Robert (wife, Connie) Cottrill of Niles, MI; half brothers: James Danes of Shelby, MI, and Dale Danes of Shelby, MI; several nieces and nephews and one great niece. Cremation will be accorded. There will be a memorial gathering from 12-2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Scott Brindley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Orville D. Cottrill, Jr. is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
