

Patricia Anne Coughlin, 85, of Springfield, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Patricia was born on August 14, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Richard and Henrietta Mester Mills. She married William Watson in 1949; he preceded her in death. She then married Frank T. Coughlin, Jr. in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1993. Patricia attended Villa Duchesne in St. Louis and then graduated from The Town School in Chicago. In 1950 she went to work for Sorling Law Offices. She later was a law librarian for the Supreme Court, Office of the Attorney General and the Legislative Reference Bureau. She attended church at Blessed Sacrament, Sacred Heart, and St. John Vianney and was currently a member of Christ the King. She was devout in her Catholic faith and participated in perpetual adoration at both Blessed Sacrament and St. John Vianney. She also had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a former member of the Sangamo Club, Panther Creek Country Club, and Island Bay Yacht Club. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Melinda Hazelwood; and great-grandchild, Nicholas Alfred Cline. She is survived by her daughter, Maripat (husband, Jerry) Cline of New Berlin; seven grandchildren, Christopher Kerr, Julia (husband, Daniel) Cline-Green, Joseph (wife, Janelle) Ludtke, Patricia (husband, Kenneth) Wiltshire, Jerry (wife, Karri) Cline II, Jennifer Cline, and Joshua Cline; thirteen great-grandchildren and her dog, Baby. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 902 St. John Dr., Sherman with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family of Patricia Anne Coughlin would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Coughlin for his care and friendship. They would also like to thank the people who provided her care for the last 18 months and the friends that made Patricia's life better through their involvement.
