

She was born on March 21, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of John and Alberta Kirchgesner. She married John Kienzler on June 3, 1972, at St. Aloysius in Springfield.
Pat attended St. Aloysius Grade School, Ursuline Academy, and Springfield Junior College. She graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in elementary education. After teaching two years in Middletown, IL, she became a stay-at-home mom to raise her five children. She later returned to teaching and spent several years teaching preschool at Cathedral School, and then established and taught preschool at Blessed Sacrament.
Her interests over the years included scouting, sewing, crafting, gardening, making dresses for the Dress a Girl Around the World program, and she especially cherished any time that her family was all together. Pat was a loving and doting mother and grandmother, and her family was her greatest joy.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, John Kienzler of Springfield; children, Stephen (Kristi) Kienzler of Fenton, MO, Jeffrey (Laura) Kienzler of St. Louis MO, Timothy Kienzler of Springfield, Melissa (John) Parr of Vernon Hills, IL, and David (Sarah) Kienzler of Rochester; grandchildren, Kaila, Brandon, Carson, Morgan, Mia, Lillian, Abigail, Owen, and Nolan; siblings, Dennis (Chris) Kirchgesner of Riverton, John (Marilyn) Kirchgesner of Springfield, Kevin Kirchgesner of Rushville, IL, Catherine (Jerry) Bauman of Springfield, Greg (Carol) Kirchgesner of Auburn, and Bob (Lily) Kirchgesner of San Jose, CA; godfather and uncle, Dick (Joann) Kirchgesner of Monticello, IL; uncle, John Armstong of Downers Grove, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
