Paul Andrew Hermes

Paul Andrew Hermes, 80, of Alexander, died at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Paul was born on November 10, 1926 in Jacksonville, the son of Edward and Gertrude Bergschneider Hermes. He married Mary Brennan on September 16, 1950 at Alexander, IL. He graduated with the Class of 1944 from Chaminade High School in St. Louis, MO. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Berlin. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4372 in New Berlin. Paul and his wife, Mary owned and operated a farm in the Alexander area. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-seven years, Mary Hermes of Alexander; three sons, Jim (wife, Karen) Hermes of Franklin, Henry (wife, Paula) Hermes of New Berlin and Tim Hermes of Alexander; six daughters; Regina “Jeannie” Hamilton of Springfield, Carol Riedel of Springfield, Linda (husband, Steve) Walter of New Berlin, Kathy (husband, Sean) Baldwin of New Berlin, Christine (husband, Michael) Taylor of Charlotte, NC and Lori Hermes of New Berlin; fourteen grandchildren: Shawn, Lisa and Brian Hamilton, Andrew, Leandra and Matthew Hermes, Kayla Riedel, Jerrod and Jake Walter, Stephanie, Kaitlyn and Nicholas Baldwin, Kyle and Kori Taylor; four great grandchildren: Devon Rogers, Carson Rogers, MacKenzie Smith and Mason Smith; one sister, Sister Agnes Hermes O.S.U. of Crystal City, MO and several cousins.. The family welcomes friends to visit from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at McCullough – Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714. E. Gibson St. New Berlin. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin with Rev. Angel Sierra celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Berlin. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 4372, 715 E.
