He was born May 12, 1919 in White Hall the son of Earl and Sarah Lammy Smith. He married Helen E. Miller in 1939 in Bowling Green ,MO.
Mr. Smith was employed by CILCO for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is survived by his wife Helen; daughter, Diana(husband,William) Hester of Springfield; son, Paul J.(wife, Donna) Smith of Maryville; four grandchildren, Debra L. Claypool of Tallula, Kimberly A. Nolen of Springfield, Dr. Jamie L.(husband,Steve) Ikeda of Maryville and James A.(wife,Rhonda) Smith of Pawnee; seven great grandchildren, Shannon Reid of Springfield, Alix and Paige Claypool of Tallula, Trent and Amanda Nolen of Springfield and Olivia and Megan Ikeda of Maryville, and sveral nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be held 2:00pm Friday Dec. 15,2006 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
