Paul A. Thomas, 63, of Springfield, died at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Paul was born June 18, 1952 in Springfield, the son of Paul Grant and Mildred May Coffey Thomas. He married Patricia Matthew on February 9, 1974 at Riverton Christian Church; she preceded him in death in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Paul was a union pipefitter out of Springfield Local 137. Paul strongly believed in union labor and had many friends throughout the union who were like family to him. Most importantly, Paul was an excellent family man. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Luke (wife, Gwen) Thomas of Ashland; four grandchildren, Grant, Vivian, Ivana, and Lucy Thomas; brother, Gerald (wife, Janet) Thomas of IN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. While Paul had many wonderful friends, Paul's family would also like to specifically acknowledge and thank Paul's friends, Dave Bloodworth and George Pellman, who helped Paul and his family more than words can express. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies were held.
