
Paul “Mike” Woodward, 68, of Springfield, since 1988, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at home. He was born October 5, 1938 in Huntington, IN, the son of John L. and Ellen A. Goodale Woodward. He married Peggy L. “Peg” Beedy on June 2, 1963. Mike was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He ministered in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. He served as the Chaplain for five years at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He also was employed at Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, Inc. Ltd. He was an active member and Elder of Elm Street Christian Church. Mike was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving is his wife, Peg Woodward of Springfield; one son, John I. Woodward of Clinton; one daughter, Laura S. Woodward of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren; father and stepmother: John L. (Esther) Woodward of Ossian, IN; one sister, Kathryn (Jerry) Schwartz of Huntington, IN; two aunts; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Additional visitation will be held from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007 at Elm Street Christian Church, 3020 Elm Ave. Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Elm Street Christian Church with Pastor Paul Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
