

Paula P. Patino, 95, of Springfield, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village. Paula was born on March 5, 1922 in Fort Madison, IA, the daughter of Ladislao M. and Cleofas Rodriguez Prado. Paula worked at the Glade Room at the St. Nicholas Hotel and later owned Paula's, a restaurant in Springfield. She eventually retired in 1992 after 25 years of service with the Department of Public Aid. She was a member of Toastmasters and a World War II volunteer. Paula was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jorge and Robert Patino; granddaughter, Jaime Patino; sisters, Guadalupe Alvarado and Amparo Vela; and brothers, Milo, Lalo and Tommy Prado, as well as Bart Prado who passed away just days after Paula. She is survived by her grandchildren, Sonya (Gonzalo Leon) Patino of Salem, OR, Robert M. Patino of Springfield; and Nicole Patino of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Diego and Deven Leon Patino of Salem, OR, and Vivian Patino of Springfield; siblings, Nacho Prado of Davenport, IA and Bennie Aguirre of Fort Madison, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
