Peggy Parent Kelley

Peggy Parent Kelley, 81, of Virden, passed away at 5:42 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at her residence. Peggy was born May 19, 1932 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carl Albert and Lucille Horan Parent. Peggy earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Sangamon State University and also attended Lincoln Land Community College. She retired in 1991 after 8 years of service to the State of IL, Department of Commerce and Community Affairs as a Multi-Media Production Designer. She previously served as Public Relations and Graphic Design Consultant to State of IL Commission on Children and Sangamon State University, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Springfield Central Area Development Association, and the State Journal Register. She has also served as a Women's Programming Director and Art Director at KXAB-TV in Aberdeen, SD. Peggy was a former member of Springfield Junior League, Old Capitol Art Fair, Springfield Art Association, and the Public Relations Society of America, Central IL Chapter. Peggy was an extremely talented artist. She deeply loved her family and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William J. Parent; one sister, Jeanne Parent Burns; and companion, Ed Maisenbacher. She is survived by her step- daughter, Kathleen Murphy of Virden; sister-in-law, Donna Parent; and nieces and nephews, Kathy, Jeanie, Laurie, Ellen, Tom, Billy, and Michael. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. A private ceremony will be held locally. The family will be hosting ceremonies in Eau Claire, WI at a later date.
