

Peter T. Cimarossa, 82, of Springfield, died at 9:26 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Peter was born August 11, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Carl and Regina Lipperi Cimarossa. Peter graduated from Feitshans High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Eaton in the South Pacific. He owned and operated the Top Flight TV Repair Shop. He was a branch manager for Physicians Mutual Insurance Company in LaSalle-Peru and currently was employed by the Illinois State Fire Marshall. He was a past president of the Roman Cultural Society and a Sergeant of Arms for the Evening Republicans Club. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 437, Elk's Lodge #158 and was a board member of the Italian-American Society, and affiliated with the National ItalianAmerican Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf, dancing and listening to Jazz and Big Band music. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Frank Cimarossa. He is survived by his children, Cindy (husband, Richard) Smith of Springfield, Greg Cimarossa of New Berlin, Steve (wife, June) Cimarossa of Scottsdale, AZ, and Monica Cimarossa of Chatham; thirteen grandchildren, R. Jason, Jarrad, Jeff, and Stacy Smith, Crystal Walker, Carl Cimarossa, Callie and Boone Cimarossa, Valeri and Rachael Cimarossa, Bailie, Garet and Sophie Lantz; seven great-grandchildren and one on-the-way; three siblings, Anna Miller and Enis "Cimmy" Neff of Springfield and Quinto Cimarossa of New Berlin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Firefighter's-Postal Lake Club, 940 West Lake Shore Dr., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Italian-American Society, Peter T.
