Phil was a loyal and loving husband, father, brother and human being. After graduating from Griffin High School, he enrolled in Springfield College. After dropping a science lab, Phil was drafted into the Army and spent 2 years as a medic in Korea. Upon his return, he moved to Macomb, IL and graduated from Western Illinois University before working for ESDA and DCFS. Phil also served in the Army National Guard and traveled to Germany, Panama and the Netherlands. He enjoyed summers in Onekama, MI, his dogs, Kirby and Gavin, and his red Chrysler Crossfire.
Phil is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane; twin brother, Paul; son, Rob; daughter, Valerie; five grandchildren; two bonus grandchildren; and a bonus daughter, Julie McCormick.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will host an interment at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Sangamon County Animal Shelter or Parkinson's Pointe.
