

Phyllis A. (O'Reilly) Mansfield, 88, of Springfield, died at 2:25 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. John's Hospital. Phyllis was born August 18, 1926 in Kankakee, the daughter of Frank and Edna Schneider Hatting. She married Tom O'Reilly; he preceded her in death. Phyllis was a 1944 graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Kankakee and worked for the House of Representatives and Public Education, as well as the State of Illinois for eighteen years. She worked for the Department of Agriculture for seven years. She enjoyed being a member of card clubs with her friends, collecting Waterford crystal and Rockwell plates, watching movies, playing BINGO, and travelling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Detmers; brother, William Hatting and sisters, Betty Britton and Janice Ziemer. She is survived by three grandchildren, Robert (wife, Andrea) Hegland of Sherman, Andrew (wife, Abigail) Detmers of Chatham, and Thomas (wife, Breanne) Detmers of Dawson; and ten great-grandchildren. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St, Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Sr. Maira Barry, OP officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
