Pietra Giganti, 57, of Springfield, died at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at her home. Pietra was born December 20, 1954 in Springfield, the daughter of Carl and Rose Randazzo Giganti. Pietra was a Valedictorian from Ursuline Academy and worked as a security guard for A&R Security. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul and Nick Giganti. She is survived by one son, Joseph Giganti (companion, Amy Daugherty) of Springfield; four grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Teresa, and Michelle Giganti; two brothers; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
