

Becky was born on March 14, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of Felix Phillip Shimkus, Sr. and Mary Jane Gust.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Springfield where she also attended elementary school. Becky graduated from Lanphier High School in 1967. As a young mother, she worked at Bressmer’s Department Store. Becky went on to work at Franklin Life Insurance Company for many years before working as a salesclerk at Walmart for 25 years.
Growing up, she took many trips with her parents to a variety of places. She later enjoyed traveling with her mom, on vacations and bus trips. Becky liked to play slot machines, watch sports with her daughter, bowling, spending time at the salon, trips to the beach in Galveston, TX, and shopping. She also liked to attend autism events for her great-grandson, Andrew. Most of all, Becky loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Louise Shimkus.
Becky is survived by her daughter, Vanessa (Kenny) Box of Springfield; grandchildren Kayla M., Brittany L., Hunter N., Tabitha L. and Madison N. Box and Serena A. Norris; great-grandson, Andrew Bricker; sister, Midge (Dave) Willett of Kincaid; and her two best friends, Mary Jo Ozellis and Doris Galberth, both of Springfield.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth Street, Springfield, IL 62703.
