Regina R. Buedel

Regina was born October 28, 1948, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Walter and Stephanie Gzegozaskas Abramikas. She married Martin “Marty” J. Buedel on June 12, 1971, in Springfield; he preceded her in death on November 20, 2022.

Regina graduated from Lanphier High School in 1965 and earned her bachelor’s degree in social science from ISU. She was employed as a general assistant for Capital Township for 35 years. Regina was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Lithuanian American Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother. Her devotion to her husband included five years of care giving as his dementia progressed. Regina also enjoyed playing blackjack at the casino and watching NFL and college basketball games. She was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Regina is survived by her son, Matthew M. Buedel of Peoria, IL; granddaughter, Felicity R. Buedel of Morton, IL; sister, Violet Abad of Arvada, CO; sister-in-law, Jeanne Buedel of Springfield, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl “Bud” and Pat Buedel of Zionsville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, IL with Rev. Chris Trummer, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and aides at The Arbors at Centennial Pointe who helped care for Marty and Regina in the final months of their lives, as well as family friend Sue Davsko, whose tireless support brought an element of grace to their final days.
