Renee L. Markwell

She was born on March 12, 1966, the daughter of the late Charles Verdier and Geraldine Verdier. Renee was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Lincoln Land Community College and attended Sangamon State University.

While working as a deputy circuit clerk in Sangamon County, Renee met the love of her life and future husband, Dan Markwell. The two were married on December 7, 2002, at St. Agnes Church in Springfield. Renee and Dan resided in Springfield where they raised their daughter, Emma.

Renee was known as a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Renee is survived by her husband, Dan; daughter, Emma; brother, Richard (Colleen) Verdier of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Agnes Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, Illinois, with Fr. Paul Lesupati officiating.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the mass.
