

Roger was born on September 6, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Morris H. and Helen Eileen (Mudd) Dennis. He married Linda Morrow on August 26, 1967, in Springfield. They were married for 53 years.
Roger was an ordained minister, published author, country music singer-songwriter, storyteller, company owner, chef, Elvis impersonator, prison minister, and philanthropist. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Kankakee from 1962 to 1963, during the Cuban Blockade. Roger worked for the State of Illinois in various departments. He enjoyed having fun singing and playing music with his family and telling stories to his children and grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Dennis and Earl Minton; and sister, Elizabeth “Becky” Dennis.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Roger Dennis II and wife Jodi, Joy Gresham and husband Justin, and Jered Dennis and wife Kelsey; grandchildren, Tyler and wife Jennifer, Levi, and Faith Gresham, and Porter, Hazel, Everett, and Avery Dennis; great-grandson, Adventure Gresham; and brothers, Reginald Dennis and wife Nelda, Kim Minton, and Rick Minton and wife Sheila.
Funeral Ceremony: 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Pawnee Assembly of God with Pastor Dion Crites officiating. A visitation will follow until 7:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a limited capacity of 100 visitors at a time.
A private burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
