

Richard L. Bryant, 84, of Springfield, died at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Richard was born April 27, 1927 in Waterloo, IL, the son of Elmer L. and Kathryn C. Maskey Bryant. He married Macille Slagle on January 18, 1948 in Springfield. Richard graduated from Lanphier High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He owned and operated Bryant's Market and also worked for Sangamo Electric and the State of Illinois as a Corrections Officer throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Macille Bryant of Springfield; children, Janice (husband, Randy) Miller of Springfield and Richard (wife, Wendy) Bryant of Springfield; four grandchildren, Nicole Miller of Springfield, Danny Bryant of Chicago, Jacob Bryant of Springfield, and Elizabeth Beets of Springfield; and one great-grandchild, Asher Bryant of Chicago. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The funeral ceremony will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
