

Richard A. ''Dick'' Kraus, 67 of Springfield, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday May 21, 2001 at his residence. Richard was born June 14, 1933 the son of Louis G. and Louise A. Westenberger Kraus in Springfield. He married Mary Judith Johnson March 2, 1957 in Peoria. Mr. Kraus attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Cathedral Boys High School and Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer where he retired in December 1991. He worked for Cass County Highway Department for 5 years as a County Highway Engineer. He was a member of the Illinois Highway Association. He was past State Chairman of the Illinois Highway Engineers Association and past Secretary of Illinois Professional Engineers Association and a member of V.F.W. Post 32 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife: Mary Judith Kraus of Springfield; one son: Richard A. (wife, Kathy) Kraus of Dawson; two daughters: Carol A. Kraus and Jennifer D. Hylton both of Springfield; two brothers: Paul J. (wife, Nancy) Kraus of Noblesville, IN, Louis J. Kraus of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2001. Funeral Services will be at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2001 with Reverend Peter Harman officiating. Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 24, 2001 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2700 E. Ash in Springfield. The family of Richard A.
