

Richard H. Lefferts, 67, of Springfield, died at 5:35 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Richard was born February 15, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Frederic Raymond III and Eleanor Hayes Lefferts. Richard graduated from St. James Trade School in 1967 and attended Lincoln Land Community College. He worked in data processing and as a Programmer Analyst. He worked with the Illinois State Police, Bee Consultant Computer Systems, and SIU School of Medicine until his retirement in 2007. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus #364 and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where he served as an usher. Richard was Treasurer of the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Cathedral. He was an avid reader, enjoyed researching genealogy, going to antique shows, and volunteering at Cathedral Grade School. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved nephew, John Lefferts; and sister-in-law, Barb Lefferts. He is survived by his siblings, Mary Anne (Frank) Hill of Petersburg, Ray (Heidi) Lefferts, of Merrill, WI, Stephen (Nancy) Lefferts of Walnut Hill, David (Elizabeth) Lefferts of Petersburg, and Larry (Vivian) Lefferts of Normal; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Matthew, Raymond, Brian, Marshall, Kevin, Eleanor, Megan, Katie, Kathleen, and Hayley; and several cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Ave., Springfield with Rev. Martin Smith, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
