Richard Moscardelli, 88, of Springfield, passed away on October 5, 2020 at Sunrise Manor in Virden. He was born on November 18, 1931 in Chicago to Fred Moscardelli and Julia Staudacher. Richard married Helen L. Gallagher on December 15, 1956 and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2007. He married Ruth Byrn on February 12, 2009 and she survives.
Mr. Moscardelli also survived by two sons: Michael (Joanie) Moscardelli of Edwardsville and Richard “Richie” Moscardelli of Springfield, one daughter Cathy (Marc) Nissen of Petersburg, seven grandchildren: Vicki, Kimber, Richie, Travis, Mason, Andrew and Jennifer, seven great-grandchildren: Jacob, Everett, RJ, Lillie, Alara, Evelyn and Jayden, two step-daughters: Angie (Phil) Brown and Janet Osteen, four step grandchildren: Clarence, Cory, Jill and Joel and one step-great-grandchild Remi, one brother Frank (Agnes) Moscardelli of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceed in death by one brother Al Moscardelli, one sister Betty Moscardelli and one sister-in-law Eleanor “Ellie” Schmertmann.
Richard started working as a Fuller Brush door to door salesman in January of 1961 and he retired after more than 50 years of service.
A visitation will be held on Thursday October 8, 2020 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street. CDC Guidelines will be followed regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic. Cremation rites will be accorded and an inurnment will take place at a later date at Graceland-Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur.
