Richard Edward Nuss, Sr.

Richard was born on April 17, 1938 in Terra Haute, IN, the son of Frank and Janie Lee Nuss. He was married to Jerra Mullens on January 5, 1961 at Berean Baptist Church in Springfield by Rev. Claycomb.

Richard attended Riverton schools and earned a degree in Horticulture. He was a trustee with Loami Township and worked in the landscaping business for over 60 years. During this time, he worked for Spencer & Spencer, and co-owned the Landscape Center and Rick’s Plant Place.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Phyllis Knowlton; and mother-in-law, Ruth Mullens.

He is survived by his wife, Jerra Nuss; one son, Richard (wife, Jenelyn) Nuss, Jr; three grandchildren, Richard Nuss III, Faith J. Nuss, and Angeline D. Nuss; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Nuss of Loami, Shaina Alverson of Indianapolis, IN and Karlie Jane Ruth Creasy of Springfield; four siblings, Charlotte Robbins of AZ, Rose Horsley of Indianapolis, IN, Margie Barber of AZ, and Donna (husband, Wayne) Fodor of Springfield; and a special friend, Don. Richard and Don bowled and went to the boat together and also coached Khoury League together with both of their sons.

Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
