

Richard "Rick" J. Wise, 66, of Auburn, died at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Johns Hospital. Rick was born September 2, 1951 in Springfield, the son of James Joseph and Helen Carol Oldridge Wise. He married Susan "Sue" Walsh on January 8, 1972 in Athens. Rick graduated from Southeast High School in 1969 and earned his associates degree in Heating and Air Conditioning from the Tech School at Lincoln Land Community College. He worked at the Springfield Library, Fiat-Allis, and then as a Sears service technician until his retirement after 26 years of service. Rick was a member of St. Agnes Church, Knights of Columbus Council #10556 in Auburn, Knights of Columbus Council #364, and Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Bishop Griffin Assembly #0201. He was also a member of the initiating degree team and was a Deputy Grand Knight at Knights of Columbus Council #364. Rick enjoyed watching football, especially the Oakland Raiders, Notre Dame, and Sacred Heart-Griffin, playing war games, and was a history/military buff. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sue Wise of Auburn; children, Christina Wise of Auburn, Debbie Wise of Sherman, and Sean Wise of Auburn; grandchildren, Thomas "T.J." Wise of Springfield and Matthew "Matt" Pressler, Jr. of Sherman; siblings, Ron (wife, Kathy) Wise of Springfield, Linda Fulton of Springfield, Mike (wife, Amy) Wise of Dewitt, Pat Wise of Raleigh, NC, Chris (wife, Darlene) Wise of Virden, and Pam Wise of Springfield; aunt, Edna Wise of Louisville, KY; uncle, Bob (wife, Helen) Wise of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at St. Agnes Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant.
