Richard Schmadeke

He was born on May 20, 1987 in Springfield, the son of David and Laura (Schardt) Schmadeke.

Rick had served in the U.S. Army and worked at Jesse Brown V.A. Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield. He loved sports and was an avid Cubs fan.

He is survived by his parents David and Laura Schmadeke of Springfield; 4 siblings, Dorothy (husband David) Krumin of Bollingbrook, IL, Charles (wife Holly) Schmadeke of Springfield, Elizabeth (husband Michael) Ferega of Downer’s Grove, IL, and Andrew Schmadeke of St. Petersburg, FL; maternal grandfather Ralph Schardt of Hebron, NE and paternal grandmother Dorothy Schmadeke of Springfield; a niece Ashley Krumin and 2 nephews, Austin and Tyler Krumin; and 7 uncles and 7 aunts.

He was preceded in death by a brother John Schmadeke, his paternal grandfather Marvin Schmadeke and his maternal grandmother Hulda Schardt.

Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11:30 am. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Paul Hemenway. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
