Robert James Bartlett

Robert James Bartlett, 86, of Springfield, died on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Robert was born March 7, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Robert Sullivan and Mary Catherine Markey Bartlett. He married Gloria J. King on May 18, 1962 in Springfield. Robert was a graduate of Lanphier High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus -4th Degree-Bishop Griffin Assembly and Knights of Columbus #364- where he was one of the best fundraisers ever. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; three brothers; and his daughter, Cheryl McFarland. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bartlett of Springfield; four children, Robert J. (wife, Cindy) Bartlett, Jr. of Springfield, Sue (husband, Robert) Anderson of Navajo Dam, NM, Kay Campbell of Springfield, and Sally Bartlett (Craig Spiva) of St. Augustine, FL; one stepson, Mark (wife, Kathy) Mills of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; six siblings, James (wife, Nancy) Bartlett, Edward (wife, Karen) Bartlett, Patricia Heine, Donna Bartlett, Alice (husband, Charles) Paoni, and Nancy Dean, all of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
