Robert L. "Bob" Bramlet

Robert L. "Bob" Bramlet, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Bob was born June 9, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Lynn C. and Frances Adelman Bramlet. He married Rita Stevens on January 17, 1948 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on February 12, 2011. Bob graduated from Cathedral High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aviation radioman. He was employed until his retirement after 38 years of service in a variety of positions and locations with Illinois Bell Ameritech, and was very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America. Bob was also a distinguished athlete and was always involved in sports, whether participating, coaching his children, or following the Illini or his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He was also an avid golfer. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel Bramlet; and two sisters, Helen Helms and Carolyn Bramlet. He is survived by three sons, David (wife, Nancy) Bramlet of Springfield, Richard (wife, Charlotte) Bramlet of Hillsdale, MI, and Timothy (companion, Jeannie Lindsay) Bramlet of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Laura Sullivan, Joy Martin, John Bramlet, Cindy Chavez, Todd Bramlet, Kellie Bramlet, and Molly Bramlet; three great-grandchildren, Madeline Martin, Will Martin, and Rhiannon Sullivan; two sisters, Mary Schnirring of Springfield, and Barbara Pescitelli of Kansas City, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
