Robert Eugene Cary

Robert E. "Big Daddy Bob" Cary, 66, of Springfield passed away on December 5, 2017 in Bois D'Arc, Missouri. He was born on January 25, 1951 in Springfield to Carrol E. and Mary Negrette Cary. Robert married Linda (Precious) Sharp Whitmore in Springfield in October of 1973 and she survives.

Mr. Cary is also survived by his children, Kenneth "Bammer" Whitmore of North Carolina, Missy (Ralph Richno) Whitmore and Bobbie (Ben) Helton both of Springfield and Angel (Isaiah "Zeek" Beverly) Cary of South Carolina. He was the proud papa of nine grandchildren: Brittany (Richie) Conn, Jimmy (Amber) Whitmore, Maddisyn "PeeWee" Richno, Michael "Bubba" (Rachel) Helton, Kyle Helton, Jailei "Nancy" Beverly, Sienna "The Worm" Beverly, Heather Whitmore, Andy "Lil Kenny" Whitmore, Alex Croll and Zak Whitmore, eight great-grandchildren: Tianah "Tina," Alyviah "Shorty," Devin "Puddin," and Zoey Conn, Adri'Onna Thomas, Carlito Scott, one brother Raymond "Coco" (Rhonda) Cary, two sisters and one special cousin Jimmy (Joyce) Cary.

Robert served in the US Navy, he was a Vietnam war veteran, serving two tours on the USS Hamner and USS Rogers. He enjoyed a forty three year career in the trucking industry with ELM Transit and most recently with Whalen Trucking. He also enjoyed bow hunting at Site M and Macoupin County, fishing and camping at Lake Sangchris, and Snapchatting with his family & friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday December 12, 2017 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow services at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will meet friends from from 9:30am until the time of service Tuesday at Bisch and Son.
