

Robert E. Craig, Jr., 64, of Springfield, died at 9:23 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. Robert was born February 14, 1946 in Springfield to Robert E. and Estelle Brown Craig. He married Nancy Denton on July 24, 1999 and she survives him. Robert is also survived by his children; Matthew Craig of Springfield and Abbey (husband, Kevin) Williams of Modesto; step-children; Danielle (husband, Aaron) Hanselman, James Reynolds, and Sara Reynolds, all of Springfield; grandchildren; Joe and Jeff Craig; Kort, Aaron, and Katie Williams; Eric, Austin, and Ella Hanselman; sisters, Karen (husband, Jack) Underwood and Deanna (husband, David) Ishazaki and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert graduated from Springfield High School in 1964. He began work in landscaping and horticulture while also employed by the Norfolk & Western Railroad. He then worked for the Illinois Secretary of State's Office, where he retired after 32 years of service. Robert was a member of the Chatham Presbyterian Church, served as an elder, and was involved with the construction of a new church. He was appreciated for his sense of humor and his ability to connect with people. Robert enjoyed the outdoors and time spent with family and friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
