Robert F. Flynn

Robert was born on July 17, 1935, in Chicago, the son of John and Lucille Brown Flynn. He married Bonnie Graham Flynn on February 2, 1962. He later married Becky Pratt Flynn on August 8, 1988.

Robert attended Feitshans/Cathedral Boys High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Robert retired from the City of Springfield after many years as a Public Works Supervisor. He was a strong democrat and former precinct committeemen. Robert loved working outside in the garden, fishing, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Becky Pratt Flynn; his parents; one brother, John “Jack” Flynn; sisters, Lou Hanselman and Marge Reid; brother-in-law, Robert Graham; and sister-in-law, Beverly Morrow.

He is survived by his first wife, Bonnie Graham Flynn of Springfield; two sons, Michael Flynn of Springfield and Patrick (wife, Carmen) Flynn of Springfield; two grandchildren, Brandon Flynn and Mackenzie (Chris Anderson) Flynn, both of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Levi Anderson, Zoie, Beckett, and Bowen Flynn; one sister, Rita Sharp of Springfield; and former sisters-in-law, Tina (husband, Billy) Beers of Springfield and Brenda Reed of Bemidji, MN.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield with Rev. Kevin Mann, SJC officiating. Burial will follow at Berlin Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
